Chi Nei Tsang

Chi Nei Tsang is an ancient Taoist abdominal massage based in Chinese 5 element theory. “Chi” refers to energy or life force, while “Nei Tsang” refers to the internal organs.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, your belly is considered to be the body’s most powerful and crucial energy center. It´s the space of your deepest wisdom and intuition (it´s called our second brain for a reason).

This massage is strongly based on the assumption that unresolved emotions are stored in our digestive system and in the organs. All emotions that couldn’t be felt and expressed yet (anger, sadness, grief, disappointment). Sometimes it can be reflected with digestive issues, sensation of discomfort, emotional overwhelm. Sometimes we are not even aware of certain imbalances, until we receive a mindful touch on the belly. This gentle yet deep abdominal massage helps to release stagnant energy and suppressed emotions.

In Chi Nei Tsang session we use intentional healing to release stored energy in your organs, bringing your body back to state of homeostasis.

Your abdomen houses almost all of your vital organs and the large nerve junction called your solar plexus. When you feel stressed, anxious, exhausted or over thinking too much, our belly generally tighten.

When your abdomen is massaged, together we address your body systems: digestion, immune, respiration, lymphatic, nervous, endocrine, urinary, reproductive, and musculoskeletal.

How belly massage contributes to your health?

What to expect?

On physical level, many pains, such as headaches, neck, back, muscle pains, and menstrual cramps can be alleviated. Additionally, the treatment realigns the organs with a positive effect on overall posture and bodily performance.

On the emotional level, old traumas can be released. It’s believed that the cells of the body, especially those in the abdominal region, retain information to traumatic experiences. With work on those cells, that is – releasing tension, contractions, knots, and tangles, old negative and stagnant energy can finally leave the body at the same time giving emotional release.

You start to feel lighter.

How the session looks like?

Chi Nei Tsang is received in supine position (face up) on a massage table or a mat. You can wear loose-fitting comfortable clothes and can receive the treatment while being clothed or with direct touch of the abdominal area.

A treatment starts with slowing down your breath. I help you to release tension from the feet, legs, pelvis, neck and shoulders to prepare your belly massage. The session usually takes 90 minutes and is rather deep  work in the abdominal and pelvic area. The pressure will be always adapted to your preferences. It´s very possible you will experience some aches and pains in abdominal region while being massaged. Memories and feelings may come up during the session, all is welcome. Note that in the days after the treatment, the abdominal area can feel somewhat tender and sore.
